Who We Are
The Professional Psychedelic Providers Association was founded in 2021 by Trevor Bidstrup (President) and Dr. Alison Draison (Vice-President). Our mission is to provide space to gather, collaborate, consult, and inspire. We recognize psychedelic therapies and medicines to be uniquely positioned to provide relief amidst a growing mental health crisis, and strive to ensure they are delivered with informed responsibility.
Psychedelic Therapy, Medicine, and Legality
While the field of psychedelic therapy is ever growing, as of now access to many medicines is highly limited by state and federal law. While some states have adopted psilocybin both as a clinical trial or approved treatment, most other traditional psychedelics remain a Schedule 1 drug according to federal law. Ketamine has been the primary (and only) legal avenue for psychedelic therapy in the United States since the mid 2010’s. The phrase psychedelic assisted psychotherapy refers to the synergistic treatment involving specialized psychotherapy alongside the medical administration of a psychedelic substance.
